Composting in modular roll-off containers is flexible and expandable. Composting in roll-off containers allows enormous flexibility in system design and operation. The same CompTainer module can be used to compost from 1 to 100 tons per day. If odor and process control are concerns, then the CCS is the technology you need.
Containerized compost system process
As an operator, your challenge is to keep regulators, neighbors and compost users happy with your facility. The CCS will give you the tools to succeed! First, composting takes place in controlled batches with airtight vessels (CompTainers™) that can be moved and emptied by roll-off trucks. Second, each CompTainer is closely controlled to optimize decomposition, meet regulatory requirements and minimize odors. The unique aeration system integrates up to 50 CompTainers into a single system. Add a small building for receiving & mixing plus a biofilter to remove odors, and you have a completely enclosed compost system at a fraction of the cost of other in-vessel systems.
The CompTainer™
The CompTainer is an airtight stainless steel vessel for high-rate composting. Two sizes are available with 40 or 50 cubic yards of composting capacity. The patented aeration floor evenly distributes pressurized air while collecting and storing leachate. With no moving parts, the CompTainer is simple to operate and easy to maintain and is compatible with most standard roll-off trucks.
The CompLoader™
Efficient material handling keeps labor requirements to a minimum. The CompLoader is a mobile conveyor which evenly loads material from the mixer into CompTainers at rates up to 2 tons per minute. The high-energy flail at the end of the conveyor breaks up clumps to increase porosity for even distribution of the mix inside the CompTainer. The rugged hydrostatic drive provides a complete range of speeds for the conveyor belt and flail.
The CompMixer™
Preparing the right mix is essential for effective composting. GMT offers a complete line of 4 auger mixers to blend organic materials for composting. Sizes from 150 to 625 cubic feet are available in stationary and transportable models. Weigh scales allow for accurate measurement of compost ingredients.
Aeration and Odor Control
Maintaining aerobic conditions and capturing process air are the keys to odor control. The closed loop aeration system collects all the process air to minimize odor releases. Rotary dampers connected to each CompTainer automatically reverse air flow direction and regulate flow. All process air is treated using biofiltration to remove up to 95% of odor compounds.
The CompDACS
Compost Data Aquisition & Control System The CompDACS™ takes the guess work out of composting. The computer based controller regulates the position of rotary dampers to regulate the direction and volume of process air. The CompDACS stores temperature graphs and prints reports to meet EPA 503 requirements for class A compost.
